A SPEECH DELIVERED BY BRO. SAMUEL, FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF HIGHER HEIGHTS FOUNDATION, ON THE DONATION EXERCISE ORGANIZED FOR TIMBER NKWANTA SDA BASIC SCHOOL IN THE AKUAPEM NORTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY ON THE 16TH SEPTEMBER 2022 AT 11:00AM
The Hardworking Headmaster and His Staff, the Lovely Family of Higher Heights
Foundation, Honorable National Youth President, Our Cherished Students, Invited
Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, I humbly extend warms greetings to all of us, and I
specially welcome all of us. It gives me so much joy to be speaking today at this
very important occasion – an occasion that recognizes the need to support our rural
brothers and sisters, with the basic components necessary to nurture their educational
career. I must say, that indeed, it is a heart-fulfilling duty for higher heights
foundation. Therefore, I would love to shortly speak on the future of our Children,
and the need for stakeholders to also shoulder the responsibility of supporting rural
educational development.
Our headmaster, higher heights foundation believes, that education is the bedrock of
every nation. The very foundation that we seek to build for the future of our Children
or students, must be one that builds them mentally, psychologically, and
professionally. We cannot afford to lose the very fibre that has the capacity to train
our students in the manner that will make them responsible in the future, to the hands
of inadequacy of educational materials or components. The situation of inadequacy
of educational materials in the rural areas leaves nothing to write home about, and
this is dangerous for the development of our students, who are the future of our dear
nation.
Consequently, many students have neglected the importance of education in the rural
areas. This is associated with the inability of government and stakeholders to make
education a little bit attractive to rural children or students. It is sad to know, that a
lot of schools still operate under trees in Ghana – lack of proper incentives to rural
teachers have also contributed to the deficits we see in rural educational activities.
But what can we do as individuals or stakeholders?
I believe, that indeed, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. We can
gradually build rural education together. With the little support from parents,
teachers, investors, government, non-governmental organizations, and our Chiefs,
we can build a rural educational system that will prepare and develop our children
for a better tomorrow. I am confident that if we continue to support teachers and
preach about the need to enhance rural education, well-resourced individuals will
come to support the dream making rural education attractive.
Furthermore, it must be noted that Akuapem North has a long way to go, and we
cannot compromise on our seriousness and honesty as a community as far as
building our educational system is concerned. I recognize the sacrifices of our
beloved teachers here in Timber Nkwanta Basic School, but I am concerned about
how we handle our students. It is not an easy task and will never be. However, we
must understand that it is the future of nation that has been entrusted in our care and
leadership. We must do everything possible to handle the task well for the sake of
tomorrow.
Lastly, I would love to leave us with this important message; we have a duty to God
to guide the children under our care. The Bible said train up the child in the way he
should go, and when he grows, he shall not depart from it. Again, the Bible said
children are the heritage of the Lord, and blessed is the man whose quiver is full of
them. As a foundation, we will continue to support our rural education with the little
that we can. The books, toiletries, white marker drawing boards, mathematical sets,
and pencils that we have donated to are to say, but the least compared to the things
that we believe that God will use Higher Heights Foundation to do for rural
education in Ghana.
The Hardworking Headmaster and His Staff, the Lovely Family of Higher Heights
Foundation, His excellency the Youth President of Ghana, Our Cherished Students,
Invited Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you so much for giving me audience.
