POSSA UG CONDEMNS THE UNCONSTITUTIONALITY IN THE SWEARING IN OF THE ILLEGITIMATE UG-SRC PRESIDENT AND VICE AND IS CALLING FOR THEIR SUSPENSION WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT
The Political Science Students association have been keenly monitoring the aftermath of the just ended UGSRC elections and the controversies surrounding it.
It took our utmost shock when the Ag.Src President, despite management caution to him in his bid to swear in new executives pending the interlocutory and mandatory injunction secured by the SRC President Elect Mr.Prince Asumadu prohibiting the Swearing in of any person apart from him as the SRC President.
We believe this move by the Ag.SRC President is an orchestrated and deliberate attempt to subvert student will to satisfy his parochial interest , selfish and Self-serving interest.
The action of the Ag.Src President is highly unconstitutional and a slap in the face of Democracy as two halls which took part in the just ended SRC elections cannot be disenfranchised in any way or form. It is the contention of the association that the right to vote is not only a right that is protected by the SRC constitution but the 1992 constitution as well.
It is our believe that at no point should a groups of persons , particularly two halls be disenfranchised or be dissalowed in taking part in this year’s SRC elections.
We want to draw management attention on the danger this unconstitutionally engineered by the Ag.SRC President could bring and would want to urge management to as soon as possible call out the wrongs and unconstitutionality that was done yesterday in a purported swearing in ceremony.
It is important to note that, the Political Science Students association will go every length it has to take legally to demand for the right of our members who might have been affected by this high level of unconstitutionality.
