I was never in favour of the idea to create the office of the special prosecutor, and I still do not think it should exist because, in my opinion, the money that ought to have been spent on it would have been better used for other, potentially more urgent purposes.
My name is Bro. Samuel Obeng Badu, an unemployed graduate who do not mean any harm as my purpose in writing is to make suggestions for future growth and improvement
With regards to a few of my previously published articles, such as "THE CALL FOR THE DRAFTING OF A WORKING AGEING POLICY, THE TRANSPORTATION CRISES OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, and the likes," I propose reverting the Special Prosecutor's office to the MINISTRY OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. Thereby getting the educated social workers graduating from our universities on board. The name itself should be enough to convey the type of work that this office and the energetic social workers will be undertaking.
This is due to the fact that the OSP is entrusted with looking into specific cases of alleged or suspected corruption or offences related to corruption involving public officers and people who have been given important public roles in Ghana, another nation, or an international organisation, such as high-ranking officials in political parties.
In my opinion, combating corruption doesn't require an army; instead, it starts with a mindset. If I decide to abstain from all illegal activities and you decide to do the same, will the office of the special prosecutor still be required, or necessary? However, since this is my modest opinion, I am open to criticism.
Although I am aware that the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection already houses a department dedicated to social welfare, I personally do not think significantly of their efforts in the areas of social welfare and personality development, which may be one of the reasons why there are still impoverished people on the streets today. That could be the cause of the ongoing street sleeping epidemic.
A recent piece I wrote titled "CHILDREN ON THE STREETS, FROM THE STREETS AND OF THE STREETS" further emphasises that point.
Though you might not agree with me, this is only my humble opinion. As I previously stated, I write purely for the purpose of making suggestions for future growth. To be continued...
