The delight that Nigerians are experiencing today is the victory of Olukemi Olufunto Adegoke Badenoch as the leader of the United Kingdom Conservative Party.
As the leader of a Conservative Party reeling after its worst-ever election loss, Badenoch is the first black woman to hold a prominent position in the UK.
In a result declared by the party on Saturday morning, she received 53,806 votes against Jenrick's 41,388 and therefore becomes the new head of the opposition, succeeding Rishi Sunak.
Badenoch promised during her campaign to put the Conservatives back on "first principles" and to start a number of reviews in the upcoming months to create a new set of policies.
