THE UNSPOKEN TRUTH ABOUT COLONIALISM AND IT'S LASTING IMPACT

One of the most painful realities is that the arrival of colonial powers in our country had a devastating impact on our culture and way of life. Unfortunately, this aspect is often overlooked in historical accounts. Instead, we're taught that European colonizers came to engage in trade and commerce. However, the truth is far from this narrative.

The story that they're taught in schools and written in books doesn't quite add up. It says they came to trade, but we know better. The reality is that they came to exert control, exploit our resources, and destroy our cultural heritage. This painful truth cannot be sugarcoated.

When we travel to their countries, we're labeled as immigrants, often facing numerous challenges and barriers. On the other hand, when they come to our countries, they're welcomed as investors, which is a far cry from the truth. This double standard is glaring and must be acknowledged.

Furthermore, when they work in our countries, they're paid handsome salaries and benefits, earning the title of expatriates. Meanwhile, when we travel to their countries, we're often relegated to menial jobs, regardless of our qualifications or expertise. This disparity is a deliberate attempt to undermine our potential and perpetuate inequality.

The global economic system is rigged against us, and it's time we acknowledged it. The World Bank, supposedly an institution for the entire world, is dominated by Western powers. It's appalling that the president of the bank has traditionally been from America or Europe. This is not only unfair but also a clear indication of the power dynamics at play.

It's time we stopped accepting this status quo and demanded change. We need a more equitable and inclusive global system that recognizes the value and contributions of all nations, regardless of their economic or political power. We deserve better, and it's time we stood up for our rights.

The narrative that has been fed to us for far too long must be challenged. We mustn't continue to accept a system that's designed to keep us in chains. It's time for a new story, one that tells the truth about our history and our contributions to the world.

Ultimately, it's up to us to demand change and work towards a more just and equitable world. We owe it to ourselves, our children, and future generations to challenge the status quo and fight for a brighter future.
