Isn’t this greatest of all love? – the love from the most high, the almighty of almighties, the maker of the natural and supernatural all given to us free through the blood of his only begotten son. That is the kind of love no one could afford to miss.
And it really came to pass that his son Jesus Christ actually came down to fulfill His Father‘s promise by living with us, loving the poor and fighting for justice for the meek and humble, the powerless and the voiceless. His words and actions taught people the best ways to live their daily life to the glory of God. And to crown it all He shed his blood on the cross for our sins.
What a great love.
I believe this love may have inspired some of the greatest praise songs these days that give us goose pumps when we sing them.
JESUS YOU LOVE ME TOO MUCH OOH
TOO MUCH OOH TOO MUCH OOH EXCESS LOVE OOH
And you can even raise the feeling to the next level
JESUS YOU LOVE ME TOO MUCH OOH OOH OOH OOH
TOO MUCH OOH TOO MUCH OOH EXCESS LOVE OOH
This song can make us feel ourselves swimming in the sea of love Jesus has given unto us.
Isn’t that amazing?
Brothers and sisters, God’s love is great and we know and believe it.
it can be seen in the abundance of gold, diamonds, bauxite, manganese, iron ore , cocoa that he has blessed use with
It can be seen in him sending Dr Kwame Nkrumah to show us the path to national prosperity
So how come we still hasn’t found what we are looking for?
How come people keep going through all kinds of untold hardships?
How come people keep dying of preventable and curable diseases?
How come more women keep losing their lives or that of their babies at childbirth?
How come brilliant kids of school going age are carrying pure water on their head for sale under the hot sun during school hours?
Is it because God doesn’t love us anymore?
No I don’t think so
I believe His love is ever present with us. As long as we can breathe, walk see, talk and do many other things to His glory, it’s all because he lives and He loves us.
I think we still haven’t found what we are looking for because we have stopped searching for everything we need and resigned to swim in that one verse- John 3:16. It is as if there is no other verse in the bible.
Hello………….
How about we try this one:
FOR GOD SO LOVE THE GHANA THAT HE GAVE US OVER 30,000 VERSES IN THE BIBLE THAT WHO SO EVER SEEK THEIR TRUE MEANING AND APPLICATION COULD TRANSFORM THEIR LIVES AND THAT OF THEIR NEIGHBORS. THEY CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS AND STOP CYCLONES, THEY CAN FLY HIGHER THAN AN EAGLE AND SWIM DEEPER THAN THE DEEPEST FISH TO THE GLORY OF HIS NAME.
AMEN
This is not a biblical verse but I hope it helps to open our mind to the immense abilities God has instilled in us that we are not using. And we rather prefer to continue swimming in his sea of love just by feeling it.
Let’s take just one other verse for instance:
1 Chorintians 10:23
I AM ALLOWED TO DO ALL THINGS BUT NOT ALL THINGS ARE GOOD FOR ME
I AM ALLOWED TO DO ALL THINGS BUT NOT ALL THINGS ARE BENEFICIAL
This verse can be perceived in the historical context of Apostle Paul educating the Jews about what is lawful and what is not lawful.
But let’s perceive it in the context of how much God allows or empowers us to do.
God allows the birds to fly with their wings, right?
But we humans are not allowed to do that, no matter how many times we flap our hands on our sides.
But God has allowed us to use our brains to make machines that can fly us higher than the highest birds.
Making such machines can be considered a labor of love but it did not happen because we remained in the good feeling of Gods great love.
It happened because some people have been able to receive the word God gave them to walk down the path that will lead them to make an aeroplane. And they walked that path. They may never have read the bible before but the path they took has been allowed by God.
I believe that each of us here has the ability to seek, receive and apply similar messages if we so desire. We can seek it individually or collectively. The most important is that whatever we seek should be beneficial to us, our neighbours and our surroundings.
On this note I wish to say to those who still believe that Christianity is a tool to keep Africans in servitude and backwardness, we cannot shy away from their truth. It is true that some Popes of old did authorize slavery and a slave ship was christened Jesus. But we have come a long way to turn Christianity into a force for good. The contributions of Africans, from Augustine to Bishop Emeritus Kwasi Sarpong continue to make us realize that it all depends on the choices we make with our faith. Augustine wrote the defining Christian doctrine masterpiece, THE CITY OF GOD and Kwasi Sarpong humanized Catholicism in the heart of the Ghanaian worshipper.
We can choose to be swimming in the never-ending sea of God’s love while others take God’s love to the next level by seeking and applying the knowledge from all His messages to build a walled swimming pool under a roof, so that they can keep swimming even when there is a rainstorm.
The Bible says seek the truth and the truth shall set you free. In the Bible there are many truths including the truth of God’s love. But it is not the only one. And if we seek all the truth and apply them to change our conditions and that of our neighbors for the better I don’t believe God will deny us everlasting life for doing that.
At this moment our beloved nation and our people are bleeding from corruption, nepotism, loot and deliberate distortion of her history by the very people that have been entrusted with power.
The good news is that all this can be stopped, reversed and rectified in order to bring Ghana back to the right path of progress and prosperity. But it will first take me, Bro. Samuel, you, him, her and everyone to stand up and say Enough Is Enough. And the time is now.
St. Augustine was an African whose mother Monica, was a slave in Southern Italy. St Augustine, bishop of Hippo, was one of the central figures in the history of Christianity, and City of God is one of his greatest theological works. Written as an eloquent defence of the faith at a time when the Roman Empire was on the brink of collapse, it examines the ancient pagan religions of Rome, the arguments of the Greek philosophers and the revelations of the Bible. Pointing the way forward to a citizenship that transcends the best political experiences of the world and offers citizenship that will last for eternity, City of God is one of the most influential documents in the development of Christianity.
